BOOTY BEAUTY. 13 Sep 2010
Whether you call it a caboose, can, cheeks, bum, bottom, booty, buns, rump, rear-end, fanny, ass, humps or tuckus, that beautiful body part of ours that turns heads, rules the dance floor and is the inspiration (and intention) of many o' workouts is worked to perfection at Lithe.
Why? The glutes are part of our core, but they're also our largest and most powerful muscle group, and therefore, our fat burners and metabolism boosters! Check out the diagram above. See how everything is connected and the glutes run into the IT Band and down the length of the leg laterally? I can't divulge our secrets, but when we work the quads, glutes, hamstrings and IT-Band at Lithe, we work them long and work them from many directions and then we pull in the smaller muscle groups to get a lifted, tight and narrow lower booty look rather than the higher and wider bulky upper-glute effect. All that Cardio-Cheer-Sculpting pays off...Add weights, our band-work and our cardio training, and viola, you have the backside of your dreams.
Other than our butt-work on the mat and our more bum-focused classes: Sweet Cheeks, Step Rally, Thigh High and Hipster, Lithe's proprietary parallel and lateral sequences at the barre are the most challenging and effective moves for targeting your lower half & your external hip muscles and hamstrings, which have serious impact on the glutes. As I always say...If you sit on it long enough, it will go away (and fall south)!
