PEEK AT COCOON! 29 Oct 2010

Designer & Lither, Bela Shehu, brought the Cocoon muslins over for me to check out earlier this week. As we chatted and tried everthing on, I snapped away so that I could show all of you.  I'm loving everything and I cannot wait to have you all test the samples and see the finished product!

We're burning up!  What have you been burning...We want to know!  We've been tracking our classes and these results are the averages taken from three female Lithers of average weight/height in a variety of 60 minute Lithe Method workouts.

Individual results will vary depending on YOU.  How do you get your best burn?  Remember that the harder you work, the better your form is, breathing (oxygen to muscle/cardiac output) and knowledge of our Lithe Method basic principals, the greater your burn will be!

FYI, These numbers do not include the "after-burn."  It's true that your metabolism stays torched long after you stop Lithing.  One study found that women burned more calories for up to 67 hours after an intense 40 minute cardio workout, but that "after burn" effect should be calculated for just one additional hour, post-Lithing.  The after burn effect typically tacks on an additional 300-600 calories burned per workout!

LITHE BRIDE. 28 Oct 2010

The lovely, long-time Lither, Karen S. recently had the beach wedding of her dreams in Avalon, NJ.  I've never seen Karen look so breezy and beautiful.  Congratulations, Karen & Christian!

From:  West Chester, PA

Favorite City:  Rome, Italy (she took a hiatus from her Philly job/life to move there 3 years ago ... Now she speaks Italian, and always loves going back to visit her "second home")

Enjoys:  Lithing, tennis, rhythmic gymnastics, dancing, documentary films, espresso, fresh/local fruit & veggies (especially honeycrisp apples & brussels sprouts), seafood (she's a pescatarian), travel (especially to Europe and any tropical/beach destination), anthropology, linguistics, nutrition, anything Italian, and spending time with her family and  shih tzu, Chloe

Favorite Lithe Exercise: See-Saw (perfect combo of strength and flexibility!)

Other Job:  Ethnographer/Researcher for a design consulting firm focused on the healthcare/medical device industry. She travels around the world observing and interviewing physicians in their element.

How'd she land a spot on the Lithe team?  As soon as I met Melissa, I knew she would make a perfect instructor.  Besides having a professional athletic background, flexibility and strength like no other, the girl has passion!  She's fun, inspiring, positive, beautiful inside and out, super-friendly and she really shines when she Lithes. Melissa loves to move and she grew up in the gym, so keeping active is like second nature to her (she swears she gets withdrawal symptoms after just one day off!).  I cannot wait until you all catch her skills with the ball, hoop and bands!

What you wouldn't know just by looking at her:  She's 27, 5' 7", she started artistic gymnastics at the age of two and continued for 12 years (up to level 9), then her coach convinced her to switch over to rhythmic gymnastics because of her flexibility/dance skills.  She graduated with a BA in Anthropology from UPenn in '05 and has been living in Center City ever since. She currently coaches/teaches & choreographs for Penn Club Gymnastics, She was in the Junior Olympics during high school and she is allergic to corn.

BAHAMA MAMA. 26 Oct 2010

We've had a change in latitude.  As you may have heard, our Spring flights to Grenada were unexpectedly and permanently canceled by Air Jamaica. With no easy way to get to Grenada, we were left with no other option but to find another location.  Sure, we're sad about the cancellation, but we're thrilled to tell you about our Lithe Escape "plan B."

With bubbling excitement, Liz and I would like to share with you our just-finalized alternative Spring Lithe Escape location...The GORGEOUS Hibiscus Hill House (the Guest House & The Cricket Pavilion) on Harbour Island, Bahamas. Hibiscus Hill is the cluster of private Caribbean homes owned and designed by the enchanting India Hicks.

I could go on and on about India...Barefoot, buttoned down, ex-model turned mother of 4, turned celebrated interior designer turned...(more at www.indiahicks.com). I love reading about her life in the Bahamas, her cute kids, and her creative inspiration.  India and her husband recently opened their bohemian, chic, and utterly breathtaking homes up to the public. Liz and I have been waiting patiently for these homes to come on the market as rentals for almost five years now...Lucky US!  I've spent some time in Harbour Island a few years back and it is breathtakingly beautiful, charming, friendly and perfect for our Escape.

Beach lover?  Known as the Nantucket of the Caribbean, Harbour Island beach was featured in The Travel Channel's “World's Best Beaches” segment in March 2005. Named “Best Sand Beach,” Harbour Island was one of 10 beaches worldwide to be included in this program.  Our setting at Hibiscus Hill will be a 'stone's throw' to two whole miles of uninterrupted PINK sand beaches, a three minute walk to town where charming traditional cottages, stylish shops, and local produce is for sale. Oh, and PS, no cars allowed on the island. Just sand and a few golf carts throughout.

The dates will remain the same:  May 7th-May 14th, 2011.  This is an intimate Escape...We have sold 6 spots, so there are only 4 spots left at $2,700 per person.  As usual, we'll use our surroundings and Lithe outdoors on the airy veranda of the Cricket Pavilion, on land and in the sparkling blue sea (Yes, we will be doing our Lithe Tri and ocean swims!).  You'll eat three family-style Lithe Escape meals a day (think local seafood and fresh veggies) designed by Liz Solms and cooked by our in-house Bahamian chef.

Interested?  Email lithemethod411@gmail.com.  More details to come ASAP.
