New-ish instructor Elizabeth Howe has bust onto the Lithe scene with the ease and confidence of a veteran instructor. Her cues keep our booties tucked and squeezed, our shoulders down, and our cores engaged. But what are some things we may not know about the natural Lither? Find out what Elizabeth is like when she is not motivating us everyday in the studio.
  1. I have a deep and abiding love for chocolate milk – which is somewhat problematic because I am lactose intolerant.
  2. I’m allergic to penicillin and all cephalosporins.  A doctor gave me too much when I was 9 and I almost died in Children’s’ Hospital (becoming lactose intolerant was a side effect).
  3. I majored in English and Fine Arts at Georgetown University.
  4. I have one brother, Michael, who is almost 12 years older than I am. He lives with his wife, Gina, and their daughter, Lola, in Los Angeles. I miss them all the time.
  5. Recently, my fiancé introduced me to pho, which is a Vietnamese soup, and now I want it all day, every day.
  6. Frequently, I have vividly realistic (and wonderful) dreams about endless shopping.
  7. Poor grammar, especially in writing, drives me nuts. I’ve been known to put down a book if it isn’t well written, and not feel “badly” (ugh!!!) at all.
  8. While British humor is my favorite, at times I can become a bit of a 5th grade boy, and giggle uncontrollably at very juvenile things.
  9. Although I’ve been to a few amazing places, I want to travel almost everywhere.
  10. I started swimming when I was 2 and a half and I still find myself pretending I’m a mermaid from time to time when I’m in the water…
  11. I love black and white photo booths. Some may find them corny, but print me out that quad of pics, baby! One frame has to be the requisite goofy shot.
  12. Frequently (when not in workout clothes for Lithe) people tell me I look like Whitney Port from the Hills and some other MTV shows. I used to work at a boutique, and one woman refused to come out of the dressing room to let me help fix her dress until I showed her my ID because she was convinced she would be filmed.
  13. I’m the only person on both sides of my immediate and extended family who doesn’t have to wear glasses. Somehow I escaped with utterly perfect vision.
  14. I cannot watch movies or shows in which animals are hurt. This includes animated films. I start crying uncontrollably.
  15. I always hate the way I look in photographs.
  16. If someone needs something, I usually have it in my bag. It’s a Mary Poppins type situation. Which leads me into...
  17. “Mary Poppins” was my favorite movie for years when I was little. I thought the lyrics to the song “Step in Time” were “steppy-dive” until my brother couldn’t take it anymore and corrected me.
  18. I love roller coasters - the faster, higher and loopier the better. I also want to go skydiving.
  19. I used to fall asleep in my brother’s bass drum.
  20. I am technologically impaired. Just recently, I learned what a # “hash tag” was…
  21. I find wrapping presents incredibly fun; there is a permanent “wrapping station” in our house- and I’m really into cloth ribbon.
  22. I got a perfect score on the verbal section of my SATs, and also on the SAT II in both English and Writing. The math section was a different story…
  23. The only perfume I ever wear is Hanae Mori. Once, during college, Sephora ran out of my old perfume and this one came in, so I got it and never looked back.
  24. When I was 10, we got a Soft Coated Wheaten and I was allowed to name him-- bad move! I chose the wonderful "Woody" after Woody Allen because my bro and his friends thought he was funny. I had no idea of the double entendre (or why my brother thought that name was hysterical)...
  25. Here it comes – I LOVE LITHE! I love it even more than I thought I could or would. I can’t imagine anything else like it, and I’m so lucky to be a part of something so unique and special.

Elizabeth, I may actually need ID too. I recently saw Whitney Port on something and took a double take, when I realized how much you two look alike. If your fiance looks anything like the dude she was dating when she first moved to the City, you’re in business lady! And ohhh the old mermaid swim--lock your legs together at the ankles, and flail around in the water like a dolphin? I know it too well. Thankfully, with your help, that’s where the flailing ends. You keep us all on point in the studio!

See you in class!

Totally with you on #20 and the 'hash tag'!?!?!

#17 all the way!!!!! I even refer to Ms. Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins - cause she is!

#15 could have been on my list too, I assure you, you look great in photos.

Even though it freaks me out in class sometimes when I consider that maybe you really are Whitney Port, I also think you are an awesome instructor and always enjoy your classes!

Elizabeth & Tif - I'm with you both on the photo thing. I think about 1 in 20 photos of me are acceptable. However, I think you are both nuts and your photos always look great.
