LITHE GOAL OF THE WEEK! 14 Jan 2013
Ready to really see results? This week, focus on getting your heels up and taking the work into the body and out of the feet and calves! When we work in "Stiletto," the calf becomes a stabilizer for the quad, and other large muscle groups (hello, glutes!). When you work improperly in a kitten heel, or if your heel is only a half inch to an inch off the floor, you end up really taxing the calf and doing nothing for those fat burners (and your core!). Terrified of the tremble that being in stiletto brings? Find the center of your foot! It's on the ball of your foot, directly underneath that second toe.

I find getting up that high so difficult- not in that it's too challenging on my muscles, but that my feet just don't work that way. Is that possible or am I just doing it wrong?

Hey Meghan! Foot flexibility varies greatly from person to person so don't stress too much about not being able to get your heel as high as the Lither in the image above (she has great flexibility). Just like flexibility in other areas of the body, foot flexibility is something that you can work on over time.
With that said, at any point in any class, I can go around the room to everyone and manually lift heels about 1-2" higher. Most people can usually lift higher than they think they can :)
