LITHE GOAL OF THE WEEK! 7 Jan 2013
This week's goal is to get the most out of Lithe. You probably know the basics: You know that you should bring water, you know your favorite instructors, you know you need your gloves, but do you ever ask questions about the things that you aren't sure about? I love when I receive questions after class. I'm always shocked (and kinda upset) when someone approaches me and says that after one, or two years of Lithing, they still don't quite understand what it means to go neutral, or imprint. Don't wonder another week! Make this week the week to set the record straight re: form, that CCS sequence, or maybe why your feet cramp up during class. Ask your instructor, and if she isn't sure of the answer, she'll check in with me, or refer you to me. Have a great week everyone!

Why do feet cramp during class? Mine do once every few weeks and it's very annoying!

Hey Christina,
Do you find that you're calves are cramping up during the matwork, or standing work at the bands? If that is the case, you're probably working from your extremities rather than your core. On the mat, many Lithers clench their toes and tense up their feet instead of gently pointing at the ankle and relaxing the feet. At the bands, focus on sliding your shoulders down, pulling those abs in, squeezing your buns and pulling up on your standing legs knee so that you engage your quad rather than stress out your calf. You also might possibly be dehydrated, but 95% of the time it's form and function :). Try working from the hip! Hope this helps!
