LITHE GOAL OF THE WEEK! 4 Mar 2013
Do you have a desk job? Do you work anything other than your fingers (typing) while you're at work? You're probably sitting at your computer right now as you read this, right? I recently read a study published in the American Journal of Epidemiology which links excessive sitting time with increased risk of mortality and it really made me think. The study concluded that whether you exercise or not makes little difference. Yikes! Did you know that the average American sits an average of 8.5 hours a day!? That's a lot of time spent on our asses. I'd much rather be working it! Considering that many of us Lithers have desk jobs and don't spend our off-time being couch potatoes, kinda makes me believe that we may just have an edge.
This week, I challenge all of us to get up out of our chairs every hour, on the hour and do
Lithe's 57 calorie burn jack sequence: 10 single jacks, 10 double jacks and 10 triple
jack plyos. Don't have 5 minutes? Skip out on the triple jack plyos, and substitue jogging in place for 1 minute. Who's with me? Are any of you inspired by The Harlem Shake craze? I'd love to see if anyone can get their entire office involved!
