LAUREN'S KILLER BODY SCRUB 15 Sep 2013
How does your skin feel right about now? The combination of the summer sun, dry air, studio sweat and cooler temps does a number on me; I feel like I can't moisturize enough. Every September I make my killer body scrub. Nothing else works like this, I swear! It tackles the bottoms of your feet, and is gentle enough to use on your face, and I love that the all-natural formula won't hurt Mars if he gets a hold of these little nuggets in the shower.
The sugar in these bars gently exfoliates, coconut oil moisturizes, ginger is great for sensitive skin, and also acts as an anti-inflammatory agent to decrease redness. The peppermint cools and soothes, and the caffeine in the green tea helps fight cellulite (and smells amazing!).
Start by mixing one cup raw sugar, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and the contents of six green & mint tea bags (I love Le Pain Quotidien's organic Moroccan Mint Gunpowder Green Tea & Peppermint). Next, add 2 tbsp ground ginger, 2 tbsp honey, and 1/2 cup melted virgin coconut oil (it should be liquid-y but not hot, since you don’t want the sugar to melt – I microwaved mine for about 30-45 seconds, then wait a two minutes for it to cool). Scoop the mixture into a silicone ice mold and set in the freezer for at 20-30 minutes.
If you don't have a silicon ice mold, you can scoop the mixture into a mason jar and apply like a liquid scrub.
