Lithe Spring Clean

You're half-way there!  Week three is another detox week, but it's not as spartan as week 1.  You'll notice that your menu is filled with smoothies, green veggies and muscle building lean protein.  If you're hungry during the day, add in more protein and increase your portion sizes.  I want to see your results on Friday (even if it's a happy smile!) so hashtag #Imlithe!

Hey Lauren! The recipes look great, I love pineapple and mint together! For the coconut mango pudding, could I replace the agar with corn starch? It's not ideal, and agar is a great thickener, but I want to work with what I have around the house.

Hey Rebecca, please don't use corn starch. The agar is the star of the recipe. It's a thickener made from seaweed with major nutritional benefits. All seaweeds are known to be high in vitamins and minerals, and they are especially high in iodine, calcium, and iron. Sea veggies help to lower cholesterol, are beneficial to the thyroid, and they help to detoxify the body. Agar is tasteless, odorless, and invisible when cooked, so you won't taste any seaweed or sea flavor!

My favorite feature of agar is that it helps to promotes digestion and weight loss. Do you live close to Essene? They carry it. If you don't want to buy anything for this dessert, I suggest using regular gelatin or skipping the binder and making a dessert smoothie to satisfy your sweet craving : )
