29 posts from June 2015

Welcome to our featured July and August Lithe workouts! For the next eight classes, we want you to focus on mastery. During weeks 1-4, work on learning (or re-learning) the choreography, perfect your form, and complete 30 reps. Then up the ante by increasing your weights during weeks 5-8.

After 10 years at Lithe, we've learned that eight sessions is both your happy place and ours. Eight sessions of the same workout weekly is best for your body and form, and best for our business. If you're new to Lithe and have taken less than 30 classes, you'll become familiar with the method and really learn the CCS, barre, and muscular phasing. If you're a veteran Lither, re-master the workout for the first month with perfect form, and then increase your weight (fives or eights ... tens are coming!) during the second month. If you're looking for more of a challenge, check out our Lithe Beach or Icon classes!
Tomorrow, we dive into each workout and give suggestions on what to strive for in each.

This week we get to know Varsity Lither Ceren Ozek!
Has the Lithe Varsity 250 class requirement served as a motivation to get into the studio when you otherwise may have skipped your workout? I've always been very self-motivated. That being said, around late summer last year I remember counting the number of classes I took to make sure I made the cut!
When you've had a long day, what do you like to do to de-stress? I find cooking very relaxing. There is something very soothing about chopping vegetables and coming up with marinades and dressings in the kitchen.
What is the most rewarding aspect of Lithe to you? The most rewarding aspect of Lithe is the opportunity it gives me to think about absolutely nothing (which I have to admit is very hard for me to do) other than crush a CCS or push your boundaries when you think you can't possibly tuck and squeeze tighter. Lithe lets your body and your mind continuously surprise you.
If you were a Lithe class, which would you be and why? I'd have to go with Rah or Rock Steady. I have very high energy! I usually have a hard time sitting still but I do occasionally slow down and focus. I also put my 100% in everything I do, just like I leave everything on the Lithe floor at the end of both these two classes.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what are the three products you'd need to survive? 1) My boyfriend: not just because he is my soulmate but also he is a master of cooking meats! 2) Glasses: I'm like a mole if I don't have contacts or my back-up glasses on; 3) Phone or a device to organize all my thoughts/plans as I'm the most organized person you'll ever meet.
Who was your celebrity crush when you were in middle school? Johnny Depp. And he still is :)

TGIF!  This week we're giving away two tickets to Ariana Grande's Honeymoon Tour, courtesy of Live Nation.  The show is on Wednesday, July 29th at 7:30pm at the Wells Fargo Center and tickets are Section 124, Row 11For a chance to win, please leave a comment below telling us which Ariana song you love to Lithe to (Break Free, One Last Time, Problem, or Love Me Harder)!

Rach's Braid
Braid 2

Braid 3

We're dying to know more about your braid. Tell us about it!

Have you heard Beyonce's song "Run the World (Girls)?" That song was written about Main Line studio manager Hannah Williams. She can literally do everything. I'm convinced she missed her true calling as the president of the United States. Girl gets shit done! Hannah is always calm, cool, and chic. She is my Lithe/ real life bestie and has taught me everything I know about the cat eye, wearing lipstick, and the importance of well-groomed eyebrows.

I found out about Hannah's hair skills when I decided to be Elsa for Halloween and was stuck on the braid. I agonized about my options (I'm an indecisive Libra). Hannah got tired of listening to me lament and said "I'm going to do it for you." And the rest is fabulous hair history!

I usually wear a bun or braid while teaching since I hate getting my ponytail caught in the bands. So for this shoot I decided to go with an extra fun braid. Hannah picked the style and when she sent me a snap of this crazy faux hawk fishtail, I died. I whined that it was too edgy for me, but she insisted it would photograph well from all angles. Since I trust her judgement on anything and everything, I decided to rock it. I felt like such a badass and didn't want to take it out. It took her less time to put my hair up than it took Anthony to take it out!

Lithe Icon

This week we get to know Lither Kelly Sciblo!
What's your secret to consistently incorporating Lithe into your schedule?
I make Lithe non-negotiable every day and schedule it around other events. You'll usually find me at the Main Line studio at 6AM or 7PM because I love the camaraderie. In the winter when it's dark in the morning and I'm working longer hours at night, I add in more classes at the Old City and Rittenhouse studios on the evenings I get stuck in the office late.
When you've had a long day, what do you do to de-stress?
I love reading books while I'm at the beach. But if I can't get to the beach, curling up with a good read on the couch or in my window seat does the trick.
What is the most rewarding or challenging aspect of Lithe to you?
The most challenging part of Lithe is sculpting. Even though I can tell I've gotten much stronger, every part of sculpting on the mat and at the barre is still a mental battle.
If you were a Lithe class, which would you be and why?
I would be All That! CCS sequences are by far my favorite part of Lithe and I can't choose just one. I love that All That puts lots of favorites together.
What's your signature drink?
If it's an option, I always choose champagne.
