We're excited to announce that Gerri Trooskin, who started teaching in 2010, is now a master Lithe instructor! She joins Tiffany Nork (teaching since 2006), Krista DeNofa (teaching since 2008), Bari Rosenthal (teaching since 2009), Liz Galbally (teaching since 2010), and Elizabeth Tomkins (teaching since 2010).
What makes an instructor a master? They must teach Lithe for at least four years and have taught a minimum of 1,000 classes. The status is something that is earned, not simply given. The Lithe master instructor embodies a commitment to Lithe, instructs with confidence and selflessness, and continues to study the method. Other elements that define this title include maturity and understanding of instructor injury prevention, utilization of voice (instead of body) for energy, total command of a large studio of 20-30 people, and involvement in instructor training.

We all know that Lithe is different and teaching it is the ultimate multi-task. Many assume that teaching Lithe is like teaching a grounded workout that rarely changes such as yoga, spinning, barre, or Pilates. They couldn't be more wrong. Lithe instructors are triple threats and it takes years to become a well-oiled machine. Our instructors are forever in training and constantly learning new workouts.

What motivates you to stay consistent with Lithing? I'm motivated by my Lithe besties and the amazing results. My friend Damaris made me buy a Lithe special about five years ago. We were hooked, but didn't go to class consistently. My biggest motivation was getting wedding dress-ready. The more I went, the better I felt and my body was changing. I did several challenges before my wedding and the support and encouragement of my Lithe besties pulled me through. I had a private class for my bachelorette party because I didn't want to miss a workout. I was so happy with the results at my final dress fitting and on my wedding day. Now I'm finishing my second challenge since I found out I was pregnant. I want to have a healthy and fit pregnancy without losing my Lithe bride body.

When you've had a long day, how do you de-stress? After a long day I need my couch and my DVR. The shows on Bravo always clear my mind.

What is the most rewarding aspect of Lithe to you? The most rewarding aspect of Lithe is how much stronger I keep getting. The challenges force me to take classes that I would usually avoid and some of those dreaded classes have become my favorites. I also love that I've mastered cardio cheer sculpting.

If you were a Lithe class, which would you be and why? Tight End because I can be high energy like the CCS and also more focused at times during the sculpting.

What is the first album you remember buying? Mariah Carey's "Emotions."

What is your go-to recipe to bring to a cookout or potluck? Buffalo chicken dip (when I'm not eating Lithe, of course).

Around this time of year we crave warm, filling dishes to keep us going all daylong. This "meaty" bowl of roasted organic earthy gems definitely does the trick. The Earthshine bowl is true comfort food, yet it's light and clean. Everything in it makes your body love you, from the iron-rich greens and vitamin B-filled mushrooms to the antioxidant and beta carotene-loaded sweet potatoes ($10).

What is your hidden talent? I am really and truly a cat charmer. My skills may work with dogs, but I haven’t tried them out yet. I can calm scared or ferocious felines by reading their body language and using tools I may or may not have picked up via My Cat from Hell on Animal Planet. (If you haven't watched it, you MUST.)
What is your favorite Lithe workout to teach? It's a toss up between Freestyle and Rock Steady. After Rock Steady debuted, I taught it constantly and it became my little baby. I can really let loose when I teach it. I also love not letting Lithers know what is up my sleeve when I teach Freestyle. I create full-body sequences where we sculpt every muscle group. I definitely make it worth the hour.
What is your favorite body part? My favorite body part changes with the season, but right now it's my ass. For some reason its kind of juicy and I’m into it even if my husband tells that I buy bikini bottoms that are intentionally too small.
Did you ever go through an awkward phase? Aren’t I still in my awkward phase? Actually between 10 and 15-years-old, I had clear braces that looked like there was mustard all over my mouth. So gross. The irony of my awkward phase is that I overcompensated with personality. Those were probably my most confident years ever. Go figure.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be? To love, help, protect, and care for homeless animals with just one stare! I just want to save them all.

We have always been big fans of studio-to-street activewear that stands up to the toughest CCS sequence, and then transition to brunch with the girls or on a date after class. The general public is finally getting on board, too. The word athleisure is even being added to the next edition of the Merriam-Webster dictionary.

If you've been following @laurenboggi's LB Active challenges over the past few months, you already know that her workout gear game has been on-point. Many have asked where they can find the looks she's been rocking, so we're making it easy for you. Tell us in the comments if there are certain looks you've been lusting after, and we'll do our best to help you get your Tight End looking stylish in and out of the studio.

What motivates you to stay consistent with Lithing? Lithe is the only exercise I’ve ever been able to stick with consistently. I’ve struggled with depression over the last couple of years and Lithe has been a huge factor in helping me take better care of myself. I always feel better leaving and if I’m in a slump and haven’t gone in awhile I notice a significant difference in my mood. It really has been a game changer.

When you've had a long day, what do you like to do to de-stress? Binge watch shows for sure. I just finished catching up on the Walking Dead.

What is the most rewarding aspect of Lithe to you? Giving it my all the whole class, I have a bad Lithe-stalling habit. I always remember specific classes where I went 100 percent the whole time and felt fantastic.

If you were a Lithe class, which would you be and why? I would be Freestyle, because I love trying new things.

What do your friends and/or family think you do when you're at the studio? My friends are always so curious about Lithe. I took two out-of-towners to classes and they loved it. My guy friends don’t understand it. One asked why I can’t just hang the bands from the ceiling of my apartment.

What is the first concert you saw? I went to see Jewel with my dad and Ryan Cabrera opened for her.

Where is the most exotic place you’ve visited? I went to Antarctica in November and it was my seventh continent. It was unbelievable. It felt like being on the moon, but with penguins, of course.

We now carry Inspired Brews kombucha in three flavors: Immunity (elderberry-hibiscus-raw honey), Aphrodite (fig-vanilla), and the Mother (coming soon). Kombucha is an age-old probiotic beverage that many believe to be highly beneficial. It's made by fermenting organic black and green tea, raw juice, herbs, and spices with a culture known as scoby (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast). Scoby creates a cocktail of live microorganisms by eating the sugar, tannic acids, and caffeine.
Kombucha Benefits
Because it's high in glucaric acid, it helps prevent cancer and keeps your liver healthy (which comes in handy for hangovers). It also improves digestion and and fights the overgrowth of candida, a harmful yeast.

May reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, creates mental clarity, and stabilzes moods.
Alleviates Aches
Contains glucosamines, which help prevent and ease arthritis pain. Because it's full of hyaluronic acid, kombucha maintains tissue structure, promotes flexibility, and lessens free radical damage.
Boosts your immunity and energy with its high hyaluronic acid levels.

Helps reduce wrinkles, prevents hair loss, and keeps hair from graying.
