OH JOY! FOR LITHE {SNEAK PEAK!} 26 May 2010

Bag

Here is a digital sneak-peak of our BAGGU studio bag designed by Oh Joy! It's far cuter in person but I really wanted to show you guys the mock-up.  I love that Joy incorporated our butterfly (represents fit), a flower (represents hip) and the orange wedge (represents healthy) into the print!

Joy Deangdeelert Cho is my first featured, Women Who Lithe. Originally from Philadelphia, Joy now lives in San Diego, CA. Joy was one of my first clients and has been Lithing for 4 years (one year from afar).  She also loves cupcakes and I consider her one of my sweetest, dearest friends.

Joy is a graphic designer, editor and author.  She designs textiles, packaging, and branding for clients in the fashion and food industries. Some past & present clients include: Swell by Cynthia Rowley and Ilene Rosenzweig, Target, Mattel, QVC, Charlotte Ronson, Pfiff Lingerie, Mari's New York, Joya Candle, Urban Outfitters, and more.

Joy is the editor of oh joy! and ohjoyeats.  Time Magazine featured her blog as one of the top websites in the "Design 100" issue.   She has recently finished co-writing & designing Creative, Inc. – a book about becoming a freelance creative talent to be published by Chronicle Books and to released in Fall 2010. Joy's line of stationery products is currently carried in over 125 stores nationwide and internationally and is also carried in Anthropologie stores across the country.  An Oh Joy wallpaper collection for Hygge & West will be launching in the Summer of 2010.

I chose the BAGGU bag for our studio bag.  BAGGU is lightweight, made of rip-stop material and is compact-size. Plus, I love that a single Baggu can carry up to 25 lbs. of weight and eliminates the use of 300 to 700 plastic bags in a year! BAGGU was created by Emily Sugihara who studied Fashion Design at Parsons School of Design. She interned at Proenza Schouler, worked at J.Crew and now runs her eco-bag business like a true trailblazer and entrepreneur. What’s even more fascinating is she’s only 26.

Baggu sent me a sample a few weeks ago and I've taken it everywhere and I've stashed everything in it-from groceries to clothes and shoes. I love that it folds up into a tiny little square and it's waterproof-perfect for the beach!  It will be available to purchase for $10 or it's yours to keep (complimentary) with a $50 purchase of clothing.  Check it out at all three studios beginning June 7th.

OUR SUSTAINABLE STUDIO. 18 May 2010

Sustain

Lithe Method is committed to improving personal and planetary health. Of course we're green and eco-friendly, but we're really into building community through empowering Women Who Lithe.  We are a grassroots company, we care about the future and want to do our part to keep from wasting resources.

We believe that supporting local, Women Who Lithe is essential to the health of our community and ourselves.  Fresh, local products are healthy!  At Lithe, we create and source our products in the most sustainable ways we can; we use organic textiles, product and produce-and we grow it or buy it at nearby farms whenever possible. We also only hire and train from within-All Lithe Instructors start as Lithers and become our greatest ambassadors.

The studio will soon be stocked with many wonderful things...Want to know where your Lithe gear is coming from?  We like to keep it in the family and the Lithe community : ) Ninety-five percent of all products sold at Lithe Method studios are created and designed by Women Who Lithe: Our studio bags, tee-shirts, our eco-chic clothing lines, our Lithe Escape menus and organic Lithe Method meal plans.

We are currently working with five very talented Women Who Lithe:  Bela Shehu is working on Lithe's eco-luxe clothing line, Joy Deangdeelert Cho of Oh Joy is designing our studio bags, Caroline Rogers is designing and illustrating our very own 'Lithe Girl' T-shirts (both Joy and Caroline have recently guest blogged for Lucky Magazine!), Alison Lubert of Sweet Freedom is working on our very own super yummy, gluten-free/dairy-free Lithe "barre" and Liz Solms creates our Lithe Escape menus and our new three-week, organic Lithe Method seasonal meal plans (starting this summer!).

Just a few things that you can look forward to AND feel good about!
